Hi, I’m Jody Greifenberger, CPDT-ka and owner of Humber River Dogs.  I want to help you build a better relationship with your dog, to create that special bond based on trust and respect.  I believe a positive, force free approach is the only way to get there.   If my dog Lily could talk, with words, I think she would thank me for going back to dog school so that I could help her cope in this crazy world we live in.  Actually, she might say it was about time, since she was sending clear signals all along.  If we look at life from your dog’s perspective and read your dog’s body language, everything is a clearer.

Do you need help with a new puppy or newly adopted dog joining your family?  Do you want to better understand your dog and change her disruptive behaviours?  Is she lacking in foundation skills, eg. impulse control, settle on mat?  I’ll come to you, create a customized training and/or behaviour plan unique to the needs of your dog and your family.

My path is winding, like the Humber: professional engineer, environmental specialist, management consultant, school volunteer and fundraiser, and mother of three.   Sue McMullen’s Certified Dog Trainer Program at Canine Academy in Campbellville, Ontario gave me the foundation I needed.  My weekly volunteer work at the Etobicoke Humane Society has allowed me to work with a great number of dogs in an uplifting environment where we are giving these dogs that pass through the doors a second chance in life.  The world is rich with learning and I am a continuous learner so I can provide you with the most up to date, science based methods and research in the areas of dog behaviour, animal learning, canine health and nutrition.

For most dog owners, choosing the right dog trainer is one of the most important decisions they will have to make regarding their dog. Unfortunately, it can also be one of the most difficult decisions to get right. Jody was highly recommended to me from a family member who could confirm her character and reputation. So I was spared the onerous task of navigating through the minefield of options on the market and emerge with a truly qualified positive trainer who will work with you and your dog using modern, force-free, science-based tools and techniques. I unquestionably would recommend Jody as a qualified dog training professional who possesses the skillsets and information which she has worked extremely hard to master and sets her apart. She is a truly gifted positive trainer who guides you and your dog away from common pitfalls and towards a lifetime of mutual enrichment and harmonious balance.
Jody was instrumental in helping me with my border collie mix. She helped with teaching and training him a very strong recall and bonding exercises was immense help and things greatly improved. Every dog owner needs to find a 'translator', teaching you what your pup needs and is telling you and hence I recommend Jody wholeheartedly.
Jody has a creative and effective approach to dog training. She has worked with Sydney, our Australian Labradoodle, for almost 4 months, and the results are fantastic. Sydney’s response to obedience commands are on point, which has allowed us to continue building on the special bond we have developed with our pet. Jody designs a program custom tailored to your needs and your family’s situation. She is very loved by Sydney, who looks forward to her interactions with Jody each time. We could not be happier to be working with Jody, and highly recommend her training program.
I have to tell you that Turbo's improvement in behaviour is evident, as is our ability to better understand his needs. It's making this a great experience for everyone.
